Our Bantam AA team was headed to a district championship game this weekend and just two wins away from nationals. It’s the kind of opportunity youth hockey players train their whole lives for and don’t see often. USA Hockey and the Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association canceled those district and national competitions in effort to protect public health. We support the need for safety and caution, but to have the opportunity taken away because of the coronavirus is heart wrenching for our players. To not be able to compete again this season is worse. But some moments in life are bigger than hockey. And hockey itself is always about more than hockey. It’s about endurance, character, family, determination, sportsmanship, perseverance and never giving up. We will persevere through this setback. We will come back stronger next season. We will continue to celebrate a great year. And, most importantly, we will get back to work.
Thank you to everyone who celebrated our DVHL Champions with us last night, and thank you to photographer Andy Sharp for capturing some of the emotions and memories for us.
